Derek Lam’s Spring 2012 show was all about minimalism. The inspiration for his collection primarily drew from the open dessert landscapes of Richard Neutra’s Kaufmann House in Palm Springs. The smokey eye had been a mainstay for a few years now, having become so popular that we are including the more subtle "daytime smokey eye" now, so we can wear it day and night! A modern approach to the traditional smokey eye is creating more balance between the eye makeup and the lips. Keeping the face well-balanced and lips nude is key to this look!
So, I was browsing around just telling myself I will only swatch a few items and buy the products I needed for my clients. That didn't last long! I ended up buying some items for myself and had to share!
I have fallen in love with Zoya polishes. Zoya is a company with a goal of bringing safe and healthy products to their customers. All of their nail polishes are eco & vegan friendly, free of toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate, and camphor. Chemicals which can cause cancer and birth defects! All this, and over 300 colours to choose from! The colours are vibrant, very true to the bottle colour and keeps its shine. The consistency is a bit thinner than your classic polish, but it doesn't affect it's quality. The coverage is even, it's not lumpy, doesn't chip and looks.. well, polished! I find that my Zoya polishes definitely rival OPI and Essie my 2 other favourites!
To officially launch it's Versace for H&M collection, Donatella Versace and H&M hosted a fashion show followed by a party at Pier 57, Newyork last Friday night. The event was described as "possibly grander than any fashion show, ever". Donatella served up a greatest hits mix of iconic pieces from the brand's history. The collection represented the very best of Italian high fashion at a price everyone can afford. The event was attended by the likes of Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, Uma Thurman, Chace Craword, Jennifer Hudson and Linda Evangelista, who confessed to having tried on the pieces. Merging runway show, pop-up shop and explosive concert into one evening, the crowd was definitely wowed. With an all star cast featuring the one and only Natasha Poly, Lindsey Wixon and Daphne Groeneveld, plus an electric set by Nicki Minaj and Prince it was a night to remember.

In the dial-up internet and slower computers days... I stumbled across one of Zuhair Murad's wedding dresses and FELL IN LOVE! I stayed up all night patiently waiting minutes for each picture to load just so I could keep dreaming. It's been about 10 years since then yet my love affair with Zuhair Murad has only grown! He definitely would have to be my most loved designer!
'la Muraille de Soi' is the name of Zuhair Murad's latest collection for Fall/Winter 2011-12. Once again the Lebanese designer stunned the crowd with his beautiful and extravagant outfits. His new collection incorporated gorgeous flowy and silky materials with sequence, rhinestones and glittery detail - his trademark. Yet, I could pick up some new influences. The most common is the bow that defines the waistline.
For all you oily skin/acne prone girls out there your first and most important step is: a good skin care routine that you follow religiously! You cannot fix a problem by masking it, so if you have acne get it sorted. If you have pimples, its probably because you skin is being irritated by the chemicals you are putting on your face. Become more aware and start reading labels and know what your putting on your face.

Drink lots of WATER!
Make time for Primer. The few seconds it takes to smooth on a primer is so worth it. Its light, provides a smooth base and really helps hold makeup in place. For others who just want to prime I have a few that I really love; Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer light really has proven to be the best at holding up to high heat. I am a wife to an amazing man who really is my better half... A baby sister to amazing brothers and a friend to all of you! I'm just like all of you.. looking for challenges, enjoying what the world throws, wanting more, wanting better, wanting less. I don't think that anyone can have too many outfits, shoes, lipsticks, accessories or anything for that matter. Though I probably will sell 80% of my hoardings on Ebay!! (my next mission) ;)
