Foundation Series: Dry/Mature Skin

With so many options available, which is the best foundation for dry/sensitive/mature skin? I’ve found a few excellent foundations over the years. These formulas fit the bill with beneficial ingredients that will moisturize your skin all day. There is a mixture of light, medium and full coverage to suit different needs. Seek out foundations with natural oils and humectants (moisturizers) imbedded within the formula when choosing. It’s also best to choose a cream, liquid or gel foundation, since powders can dry the skin even more. One important thing to note is steer clear of mineral oil. It will clog your pores, and your skin will not be able to release toxins. It really is the worst ingredient so make sure to look out for it!

Here are my favourite foundations that have been tried and tested;

Lara Mercier Tinted Moisturiser: Light Coverage

This tinted moisturiser with give you a very healthy, dewy looking finish without the cakiness. If your skin is more on the dull side, this may be a life saver. The coverage is light and close to medium if you build it. It provides much more coverage than other tinted moisturisers. I love the finish!

Clinique Supermoisture Foundation: Light Coverage

This one’s great, especially in the summer I find. The texture is a bit thicker than Laura Mercier's tinted moisturiser, but the formula is also light weight. It’s perfect for a dewy glow. It will moisturisers your skin all day, although it helps to keep a little finishing powder on hand so you don’t glow too much. It does have some sparkles in it to give a radiant look to the skin and is essentially for dry to very dry skin. Apply with fingers for a more sheer finish. The finish is dewy and glowy.

Chanel Vitalumiere: Light to medium

The ultimate solution to tired skin, this foundation instantly revitalizes the complexion upon application and throughout the day. The formula has been updated with ingredients to specifically target dry, dull and uneven skin, and moisturizing agents to provide hydration and comfort. A marine extract boosts cell energy to enhance radiance, and light-reflecting pigments to smooth away imperfections. It has a Creamy and luxuriously lightweight finish and blends effortlessly for tones, radiant skin. I love this foundation!

Shu Uemura Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation: Medium Coverage

This foundation has just the right amount of coverage and allows skin to look flawless, yet natural. the gliding formula is amazing on the skin. Its recommended for people who: prefer a fresh and natural look with comforting moisture and prefer a semi matte finish to the skin. This foundation is a little hard to get, but nonetheless it looks amazing on the skin. This is one I would use on brides who need more of a matte look to the skin.

Lancome Renergie Lift Makeup SPF 20: Medium Coverage

This stuff feels so good and isn't heavy or greasy on the skin. It is creamy and very moisturising. It covers smoothly and evenly, giving excellent medium coverage, and you can build it up a little over age spots or imperfections  Even after hours of wear, your skin will still look smooth and dewy and feel soft and subtle.

Mac Studio Sculp Foundation: Medium to Full Coverage

This will leave your skin smooth and glowing. It is a creamy, luxurious, gel-based foundation that provides medium buildable to full coverage with a natural satin finish. It is very hydrating, moisturising and instantly revitalizes the skin while keeping it looking smooth, soft and plush. It is Long-wearing and can last upto 8-10 hrs. Another plus is that it is water-resistant and looks great in photos. This foundation melts into the skin perfectly, leaving it flawlessly covered without "masking" it. It is a bit tricky to apply being a gel base.  A sponge is the best way to apply. Make sure you dampen the sponge and blend it in. Fingers also works great. Brushes are not so good for this foundation.

Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Foundation: Full coverage

This is an excellent hydrating, buildable, medium to full coverage foundation for dry and  mature skin. It generates a slightly dewy, long lasting, flawless finish and doesn't settle into fine lines and pores. This foundation even helps to conceal melasma, whereas most foundations barely mask the problem. The product is highly pigmented and concentrated, so only a tiny amount is needed to achieve flawless coverage. This foundation needs to be applied and blended with my fingers or a damp sponge, as it is too thick to use with a foundation brush. You will get a full yet natural coverage with a dewy finish. I love this stuff and is my other go to for brides.

Hope this helps you all.. If you have any questions email me and I'll try to help you as much as I can. Remember, I do not get paid to do these posts and I will always give my honest opinion that has been thoroughly tried and tested. I will only rant about a product if I genuinely love it!

Have a fantastic day/night wherever you are in the world! I leave you with...

Much Love & Peace Xx
