Sexy 2012 Swimsuit & Swimwear Trends

Top trends to wear for bathing and swimsuits for 2012. As we hit the beach this season, and the weather grows nicer, whether we’re out if town on vacation, on spring break or if the summer season has finally arrived. At some point you’re probably going to be wearing a bathing suit. Look below to see what styles everyone will be splashing into this season.

Read on to see the amazing pictures...

Colours
The palette for 2012 swimwear will be sunny and chic. The deep, burnt-orange shade that was a designer favourite last season was softened and is now a pastel version. Coral permeated the collections, as well as citrus green. In opposition to the pale shades, pinks will come in strong vibrant hues. Blue colours will gravitate towards extremes: either ultramarines, like royal and cobalt; or very light, like swimming pool blue. White will be strong, particularly as a solid one-piece. As always black solid pieces are in every season! I absolutely love the 2012 trends!

Citrus Green
Designers splashed their creations with variations of chartreuse, pale lemon green and acid citrine hues

Sunset Orange
Lighter, more pastel versions of last season’s orange were seen, like saffron, amber and apricot.

Coral
One of my favourites... peachy, salmon-esque pink and light grapefruit shades also appeared across the board, lending a universal feminine appeal to most collections

Fuchsia
From shocking pink, passing through to vibrant cerise all the way to reddish purples, pink-based hues will be a popular selection
Aqua
Another favourite of mine is the gorgeous alternative to deep shades of blue... You have gorgeous light, baby blue, tiffany blue and cyan colours which were very popular with the designers!

Royal Blue
Designers made extensive use of royal, navy, indigo and midnight blue in their creations.

Patterns
The designers seem to have taken inspirations from timeless artisanal, hand-crafted pattern making methods to build their creations. Tribal and ethnic influences are evidently strong in many of the collections as well as embroidering techniques. Colourful patterns mimicking serape, ikat, and native motifs were prominent in the runways. Hand-crafted fabric methods such as embroidery, crochet and macramé were also present. Animal inspired patterns last year came in untraditional colours- while that was still seen; I've noticed a resurgence of the more classical animal colours. But to add a twist the designers have incorporated a trim, or detail against a solid colour. With this trend, contrasting, non-matching hues are key. Leopard, croc, zebra will all be back in 2012, but more prominently, the python look was the most popular by far!

Tribal
Swinwear creations inspired in artisanal techniques such as native America patterns, ikat and serape prints lend an instant bohemian feel to the collections. I loved Luli Fama's multicoloured stripe sensation!!

Python
Animal print is a classic for swimwear, and nothing seems more in for 2012 than the snakeskin print!

Silhouettes & Styles
Naturally two-pieces still reign supreme, but compared to last season, we’ve seen more one-pieces, monokinis and tankinis on the runway. As tops go, its becoming more structured- designers will be leveraging underwire, pushups, padding etc to provide the support designers by customers. Bandeaus and one-shoulder tops will be very much present. Or bottoms, hipsters are still the go to style. A lot of ruched bottoms went from scrunching just the top p the fabric at the back to a more prominent all the way down scrunch. I’ve also seem many designers using multiple stripes of fabric on top and bottoms, to create more interesting effects. White or off-white swimsuit is a huge hit, seen in many collections and is a sophisticated choice.

The White Suit

Black & White Drama
I love the designers mixing patterns & textures to take the B&W sophistication to another level!

Retro Reigns
High waist bottoms take centre stage! Designers seem to have adopted this vintage inspired look across the board. In terms of tops, bandeaus continue to be strong, coming in the often seen variations, straight-cut, twisted, V-strap etc. One-pieces are getting more and more creative, with differentiated, innovative silhouettes. A peculiar tendency is to see a more romantic feel on two-pieces while one-pieces are becoming more Avant-Garde

Tropical Affair
Feathers. Leaves. Or both! In all shapes and sizes, designers expressed their love of “tropicalism” in patterns with exotic bird wings, palm leaves, plumes, striking foliage and the like. The resulting mix of birds and flora was tastefully chic and outlandishly glamorous!

Sexy Cover-ups
While tunics and dresses are typically seen as the stylish woman’s alternative to cover up before and after the beach, a cool option this season are pants and skirt as cover-ups – paired only with your stylish designer swimwear top. This look is very beachy, casual, but at the same time, very well put together- mainly due to the sophisticated flowing pants and skirts seen on the runways!

I personally think this seasons creations and trends are stunning! I love all the different trends and with my European summer trip just around the corner I will be sure to get at least one from each trend! After all with all the stunning choices how does one narrow it down to 1 or 2!!

What's your favourite???

Much Love & Peace Xx
