Review: MAC Face & Body Foundation

I have been getting a lot of questions about this foundation since I mentioned it in my Summer Tips post, and now I'm finally going to tell you why I love this foundation in depth!

This is a water based liquid foundation that gives you the most natural finish and looks invisible to the human eye. It looks like skin but better. This is definitely one of my all time favourites. I use it on brides, as it is a beautiful luminous finish that is sweat proof and long lasting even with flash photography. There's one major reason why I love this foundation and that is because it sets. The fact that it sets helps it last all day, you don't even have to set it with powder and it still lasts. It is also transfer resistant and water resistant = Fabulous!

Water based foundations are great for combo/oily skin as it moisturises without upsetting the oil balance of your skin. It's also great for people with dry and normal skin as it provides hydration. So it is a win/win situation and a great staple foundation to have in your kit and also for daily use. It is also very affordable and won't put a hole in your pocket. You get a whopping 120ml for $60 AUD. That's more than double the amount of standard 50ml foundation that are more expensive. 

The consistency is very watery and runny so you have to shake the bottle very well and then pop some on your hand to warm it up. You can use your fingers for application or you can use a brush. I prefer to use a stippling brush  and then smooth it out with my fingers to get that perfect finish. If you need more coverage, don't be afraid to layer this foundation. The application is very important, and will be the deciding factor in loving or hating the foundation. So be sure to shake well and blend well. 

I would recommend this foundation to people who like tinted moisturisers, light foundations and a luminous dewy finish. If you love a full coverage matte finish, SKIP this foundation! This will suit all ages and there is a wide colour range to suit all races. Since this foundation is so sheer, if you got a shade too light or too dark it will not be noticeable and will blend out.

Overall, this foundation is like liquid skin! It is my Holy Gail summer foundation! I love everything about it and the fact that it makes my skin look so glowing and healthy all day long without melting off my face. It evens out my skin tone perfectly without masking my skin, and gives the most amazing natural finish. It blends into my skin tone beautifully (fake tan or not) so there is no reason for me to buy 2 different shades, which I am really pleased about. It also doesn't oxidise and turn orange after a few hours like some foundations do. I leave mine in the fridge so it doesn't go off and it keeps it fresh all year round. Another key point is that it looks amazing in photos!
