Birds Of Paradise Flock Together: Backstage At Prabal Gurung Fall 2012

This season definitely feels all about eyes to me, And so far three days into New York fashion week, blues and greens are the colors of choice. Backstage, it was fascinating to see how Prabal's fall '12 collection came together, with metallic, panelled dresses, scarab jewelry, and shimmering eye makeup inspired by beetle wings, all coming together in gorgeous unison. Ahhhh I just love it!!

At the Gurung show they had a metamorphosis “from hell to heaven” theme. Tilbury designed an “Avatar-ish” eye, painting the lids, right up to the eyebrow, with creamy, geometric slashes of teal, M.A.C. Paint Pot in Delft and electric blue M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Freshwater, winging out the inner corners of the bottom lash line with rich aqua pencil, M.A.C. Technakohl Liner in Smooth Blue. Mirroring the iridescent blue/green fabrics used in the collection on the sleeves of a coat, for example, she also drew inspiration from the hypnotic mix of colours found on an exotic bird’s feather and a beetle’s shell.

“It reminds me of a butterfly,” remarked model Erjona Ala, who was standing by, awaiting a touch-up.

Versace for H&M Winter 2011

To officially launch it's Versace for H&M collection, Donatella Versace and H&M hosted a fashion show followed by a party at Pier 57, Newyork last Friday night. The event was described as "possibly grander than any fashion show, ever". Donatella served up a greatest hits mix of iconic pieces from the brand's history. The collection represented the very best of Italian high fashion at a price everyone can afford. The event was attended by the likes of Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, Uma Thurman, Chace Craword, Jennifer Hudson and Linda Evangelista, who confessed to having tried on the pieces. Merging runway show, pop-up shop and explosive concert into one evening, the crowd was definitely wowed. With an all star cast featuring the one and only Natasha Poly, Lindsey Wixon and Daphne Groeneveld, plus an electric set by Nicki Minaj and Prince it was a night to remember.
